Day two of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 2018 rookie minicamp is in the books, and there has been plenty of news and videos coming out of One Buc about drafted players and undrafted alike.

Every day is an opportunity to impress, but it’s also an opportunity to take a step back and one Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie minicamp participant experienced just that. It was reported by Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times safety Jordan Whitehead ‘tweaked’ his hamstring and was limited in day two.

Of course, this isn’t anything to worry about just yet. It’s not uncommon for teams to take things conservatively regarding early injuries to young players. No sense in risking serious injury to a hamstring when you know a guy is going to be part of your training camp.

Beyond the Whitehead news, it’s been mostly positive. Like we did yesterday, let’s look at some of the news and notes coming out of Tampa.

First up, is Auman,

Of course, everything has to be taken with a grain of salt, right? The guys are in shorts and there’s no defense.

Still, Memphis quarterback Riley Ferguson was a guy I expected to see drafted at some point in the 2018 NFL Draft. Seeing him go undrafted was a surprise but seeing him picked up by the Bucs was a pleasant turn of events.

Accuracy on the deep ball is important, but perhaps more reassuring was Justin Watson’s ability to adjust to the flight path of the ball and make the over the shoulder catch without much trouble.

Again, no pads and no defense. Auman later tweeted the Bucs liked both undrafted quarterbacks they have in camp, so it’s possible we see both on the 90-man roster when training camp opens later in the fall.

Trevor Sikkema is a media personality many Tampa Bay Buccaneers faithful are familiar with, and he was on site for Pewter Report to cover the minicamp as well.

Carlton Davis almost instantly developed a cult following among Bucs fans. His physicality and size are what fans of the team wanted to see on defense, so he may be getting a little more attention from the outside than most day two guys get.

It’s good to see Dirk Koetter making positive comments about him as many have him penciled in to play opposite Brent Grimes in hopes Vernon Hargreaves III will stay inside for the foreseeable future.

More from The Pewter Plank

Among these tweets, there have been plenty of interviews and videos available on sites like Pewter Report and the team website.

In an article written by Tampa Bay Buccaneers Senior Writer and Editor Scott Smith, he quotes coach Koetter talking about offensive lineman Alex Cappa. According to the article, Koetter said,

“He’s sharp, very sharp. That’s one thing – when you don’t have the pads on, the thing you can learn about these guys is how sharp they are and how quick they pick up, how naturally football comes to them. He’s one that definitely fits in that category.”

Cappa became a late favorite amongst fans of the team prior to the draft, and many were elated to see him drafted. Not just because the offensive line is in need of quality and depth, but because many liked the young man specifically.

So, there has been plenty of positive starts happening for rookies in Tampa.
