Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter’s time is almost up. It is now the time to start to take a look at potential head coach candidates for 2019.

Dirk Koetter needs a miracle to keep his job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Since he was hired as the Buccaneers head coach, Koetter’s teams have regressed.

Tampa Bay was on the verge of making the playoffs in 2016 and two years later, they may not win another game. With back-to-back last-place finishes looming, the organization should be preparing to look for a new head coach.

The Buccaneers Week 11 loss to the New York Giants was the final blow. At 3-7, the Bucs have no hope of making the postseason. They now need to use the final stretch to assess their roster and organization to correct the litany of mistakes they made the past three seasons.

It’s too early to tell which candidates are on the market just yet, there are plenty of potential names who will garner interest this offseason.

From up-and-coming coordinators to coaches with a long, successful track record, the Buccaneers will have plenty of options available when they search for their next coach.

OC John DeFilippo (Minnesota Vikings)

It won’t take long for John DeFilippo to make the jump from offensive coordinator to head coach. After spending years as a quarterback coach in the NFL, 2018 is the first season where DeFilippo is calling plays.

That won’t make teams shy away from the young coordinator. He was one of the main reasons behind the success of Carson Wentz and Nick Foles last season. He turned Wentz into an MVP and helped prepare Foles for a Super Bowl.

If the Buccaneers want someone who can groom Jameis Winston or another young quarterback, there may not be a better option available.
