The Buccaneers released their first injury report of Week 14. A key wideout missed practice and the secondary may be thin come Sunday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints released their first injury report leading up to their Week 14 matchup.

Wideout DeSean Jackson wasn’t able to practice on Wednesday. According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, the Bucs cleared him to run, but not to catch as he continues to recover from a thumb injury.

Jackson probably won’t play this week if he still cannot catch passes. Things can change but keep on eye on his status throughout the week.

Compared to last week, Tampa Bay has improved in the health department. However, the defensive backfield could be without multiple starters yet again. Carlton Davis and Justin Evans did not participate in practice. Backup safety Isaiah Johnson also did not practice.

Evans left last week’s game with a toe injury, and Davis has not played in a few weeks. The secondary was able to pick off Cam Newton four times a week ago, but Drew Brees is a different animal.

The future Hall of Famer lost to Dallas a week ago, and he will be looking to turn his season around. Without a fully healthy secondary, the Bucs could give up a ton of points.

For the Saints, the only significant absence from practice was star wide receiver, Michael Thomas. Brees favorite target was bothered with an ankle injury.

Brees has shown that he can succeed with any target, but if Thomas can’t go, it only makes life easier for Tampa Bay’s defense. Thomas is a handful for even the best corners.

Other players of note that were listed on the report were offensive tackles Terron Armstead and Ryan Ramczyk, who were limited participants.
