DE Carl Nassib

General manager Jason Licht has been far from perfect in his personnel decisions, but he usually finds contributors on the waiver wire. The Cleveland Browns cut Carl Nassib before the regular season, and the Bucs picked him up.

Quickly, Nassib has turned into one of the best pass rushers on the team. He racked up 5.5 sacks so far this season and stepped up when Vinny Curry missed a few games in the earlier in the season.

On Sunday, Nassib had three tackles, a tackle for loss and a strip sack on Brees.

Both the strip sack and tackle for loss were critical plays for the defense. The tackle for loss came in the first quarter which backed the Saints inside their five-yard line.

Jason Pierre-Paul recovered the strip sack and set the Bucs offense up in excellent field position to open the second half. Sadly, the offense couldn’t deliver.

For a rotational defensive lineman, he has performed better than anyone could have expected.
