Ben Burr-Kirven, LB, Washington

Kwon Alexander bolted Tampa Bay for another Bay on the west coast, signing with the San Francisco 49ers in free agency. In addition, the Buccaneers have still gotten no update on the status of injured third-year linebacker Kendell Beckwith. With that being said, Tampa Bay may be in the market for more than one linebacker in the 2019 NFL Draft.

While either Devin White or Devin Bush could be on the radar for the Buccaneers in the first round, Ben Burr-Kirven could be a late round compliment that Licht may look to bring to Tampa Bay. The 6’0 and 230 pound linebacker from the University of Washington had himself a day at the combine earlier this month.

Burr-Kirven ranked in the 86th percentile or above in every agility test. He ran a 4.56 40 yard dash, 6.85 in the 3-cone drill, and an impressive 4.09 20 yard shuttle. Burr-Kirven has the explosiveness to play in the middle of an NFL defense and track down running backs and tight ends in the passing game, even if he does lack size.

The linebacker broke out during his Senior season with the Huskies, recording 94 solo tackles, five of which came behind the line of scrimmage, four sacks, four forced fumbles, and two interceptions. With a fifth round pick, the Bucs could get great value to add to the second level of their defense.
