Ziggy Ansah
While Ziggy Ansah is listed as an edge rusher on most rosters, he is also listed at 6’5 and 275 pounds, giving him the size necessary to play defensive end in defensive coordinator Todd Bowles’ 3-4 scheme if necessary. The only problem with the former 2013 first round pick: he is the same age as McCoy despite being selected three years later.

The fifth overall pick back in 2013, Ansah has put together a handful of productive seasons for the Detroit Lions, but coming off of a shoulder injury which ended his season after just seven games in 2018, he now finds himself still in need of a new home. Ansah has two career double-digit sack seasons, including in 2017 when he played just 14 games, and has averaged ten tackles for loss throughout his career.
Should the Buccaneers move on from McCoy, Ansah may be able to fill the role of an interior defensive lineman next to Vita Vea and across from either Jason Pierre-Paul, Carl Nassib, or Anthony Nelson. Coming off of an injury, the Buccaneers will be able to obtain Ansah at a fraction of the price of McCoy, estimating nowhere north of $6 million on a short-term deal.
