Tampa Bay Buccaneers: What to expect from Mike Evans in 2019
By Rob Leeds
What to expect in 2019
In his five years in the league Mike Evans has averaged 1,220 yards and averaged 8 touchdowns each year. Evans has been able to accomplish all of this on a team that has not made the playoff and has rarely had an offensive line and running game. Evans has also been able to do this with Jameis Winston’s inconsistent play at quarterback and the drama that occurred in 2018.

Mike Evans has been one of the best player on the Buccaneers during his tenure on the team and in 2019 he will be looking to increase his personal awards and the success of the team. With Bruce Arians’ new offense the Buccaneers will hope to have improved quarterback and offensive line play, which only serve to help Mike Evans. Evans’ size and ability as a red zone threat mean that he will continue to rack up touchdowns and big plays for an offense that thrives off of explosive playmakers.
There is no reason to think Evans will not post another 1,000 yard season, considering he has done so in every year of his career to this point. With the rise of Chris Godwin and O.J. Howard and the speed of Scotty Miller and Breshad Perriman, teams will not be able to focus solely on Evans, giving him more one-on-one matchups.
In 2019 look for Mike Evans in the Pro Bowl and perhaps an All-Pro selection. The competition amongst wide receivers is tight in the NFL but Evans has been able to maintain his status year after year. With better quarterback play under a new regime Evans could take the next step to being clearly in the top five current receivers or look beyond that.
