The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have their first winner of Defensive Rookie of the Year since the creation of the award in first round pick Devin White.

With the fifth pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected linebacker Devin White to become the leader of their defense and provide a spark for years to come. Ever since making his way into Tampa Bay, White has been a day-one starter and has been working next to Lavonte David in Todd Bowles’ 3-4 defensive scheme.

He will see the field from week-one until week 17 if he stays healthy, and will have a fantastic shot at winning Defensive Rookie of the year if he plays a full 16-game season in 2019. White is currently listed with the fourth-best odds to win Defensive Rookie of the Year in Vegas right now at +700, so get your bets in now before the odds increase.

While being a high draft pick lends itself to having such high odds, there may not be another player in this year’s draft class that will see the field as much as White does in 2019. It may be an understatement to say the Buccaneers will have a hard time taking him off the field when this season rolls around.

The first-team All-American and Butkus Award winner at Louisiana State, White had a productive college career and he hopes to translate that into success at the next level. It’s a good bet to assume those skills will translate to the pros and into the Buccaneers’ system; here are three reasons why White will win Defensive Rookie of the Year this upcoming season.
