Madden ratings released for Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookies
By Cory Kinnan
Sean Murphy-Bunting
Sean Murphy-Bunting’s Madden overall comes in at a 72, which given the ratings of the other cornerbacks in his class, is a pretty solid rating. Of all of the rookie cornerbacks in the class, Murphy-Bunting is the third highest rated one, behind only Greedy Williams and Byron Murphy.

The secret is out on Murphy-Bunting that was kept for most of the draft cycle; he is going to be really good. His coverage ratings are solid for a rookie as well, as Murphy-Bunting is rated at a 72 overall in man coverage, 75 overall in zone coverage, and 77 overall in press; his strength is graded out at a 58 while his jumping is at an astounding 94.
Jamel Dean
Jamel Dean is much more of a strictly outside cornerback, and his Madden ratings reflect that as well. Overall, Dean is rated as a 68 overall cornerback. His athletic traits in the game relatively match his on-field ability.
Dean has a fantastic combination of speed and strength in the game, with a speed rating of 94 and a strength rating of 66, which is high for a cornerback. His jumping ability is rated at 89, which seems a bit low considering he jumped out of Lucas Oil Stadium at the combine with a vertical of 41 inches.
In man coverage, Dean has been given a rating of 69, a 66 overall in zone coverage, but a 78 in press. Him and Murphy-Bunting could be a good, young combo to use in the game if you run a hard-nosed, blitz-heavy defense that requires a ton of press man like myself.
