Jameis Winston will throw for 5,000 yards

Entering his contract year, Jameis Winston is in need of finding some consistency to his game. It is evident that the arm talent is there and he may be the best gunslinger the Buccaneers have ever had on their roster, but he must clear up some issues between the ears in order to take another leap in 2019.

More from The Pewter Plank

Last season in just nine starts, Winston threw for nearly 3,000 yards, 19 touchdown passes, and 14 interceptions; he completed a nice 64 percent of his passes. Adjusting his numbers from a year ago over 16 starts, and Winston was on pace for over 5,300 yards and nearly 34 touchdown passes.

Now in 2019 with no quarterback competition or off-the-field issues to deal with, Winston could be staring a career year right in the face. Under Arians, who brings a vertically minded offensive system to the table, Winston will have the freedom to unleash his arm against opposing defenses; with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, O.J. Howard and more on the receiving end, Winston has all the help he needs.

If Winston can cut down on the picks, 2019 will be the year of Jameis; this includes torching opposing defenses and throwing for a cool 5,000 yards.
