1.8: Jake Fromm, QB, Georgia

The majority of the blame of the Buccaneers’ loss yesterday afternoon can fall onto the shoulders of current quarterback Jameis Winston. After he was selected as the first overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Winston has never lived up to the hype, and it may finally be time for the Buccaneers to move on from the former Heisman Trophy winner.

In this mock draft simulation, which was done on The Draft Network’s mock draft machine, two quarterbacks were already taken by the eighth pick in the draft where the Buccaneers are slated to pick based off of current Super Bowl odds in Las Vegas. With that being said, the Buccaneers were forced to select between Jordan Love and Jake Fromm.

Because of Love’s inconsistency in protecting the football and struggle to read a defense on occasion (similar to Winston’s current struggles), they opt to add Fromm from the University of Georgia. Fromm is extremely intelligent and is a wizard when reading a defense pre-snap and working through his reads.

While Fromm may not have the strongest arm in the class, he certainly has enough strength to make it at the next level and will find himself as a top-ten pick by the time the 2020 draft rolls around in April. Entering his third season as a starter in the SEC, Fromm would give the Buccaneers the experience they will be looking for so that they do not have to start from the bottom if they move on from Winston.
