S Jordan Whitehead

This offseason from training camp and into the preseason was marred by injuries at the safety position for the Buccaneers. From Orion Stewart tearing his ACL early in camp, to Justin Evans just being placed on injured reserve last week, the defensive side of the ball for the pewter and red has been limited deep in their secondary.

All of the injuries that piled up led to second year safety Jordan Whitehead seeing extended time on the field. He did not disappoint this summer, and thus far, Whitehead has been a vital piece to Todd Bowles’ defense in Tampa Bay.

After a decent rookie season where he was thrown into the fire due to injuries, Whitehead recorded four passes defended, four tackles for loss and 61 solo tackles for the Buccaneers in 11 starts. So far in his sophomore campaign this season, Whitehead has already totaled a pass defended and a massive ten solo tackles in just two games.

Whitehead has been flying around the field, playing in the box and on the boundary for Bowles and his defense. If he continues at this pace, he may lead the secondary in tackles as his development under the new Buccaneers’ regime continues to improve.
