After getting cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the end of the preseason, Noah Spence has landed on another roster as he is planning to sign in Washington.

Reported by ESPN’s Jenna Laine, former second round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Noah Spence is in Washington D.C. with the intent to sign a contract. Spence, after another strong start to camp without pads on, did not perform up to par once the pads came on. As a result, Spence was waived by the Buccaneers as they cut their roster down to 53 at the end of the summer.

Spence went unclaimed on waivers after his release from the Buccaneers, and after some workouts, remained unsigned as the season began. Finally as the NFL season enters its third week, Spence has landed back on a 53 man roster and will take his talents to the NFC East.

After being selected in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Spence never panned out in Tampa after a solid rookie season. While some blame may be placed on former defensive coordinator Mike Smith for stunting his development, Spence failed to learn more than one pass rushing move in his four years.

The Spence hype train was rolling again this summer after he plowed over struggling left tackle Donovan Smith in the first practice of the year, but failed to make an impact through four preseason games with the pewter and red. The writing was on the wall for Spence and his time in
Tampa as he played deep into the second half of their last preseason game.

After five and a half sacks, 16 solo tackles, and two tackles for loss as a rookie, Spence failed to meet that number over the next two years of his career. After only one sack, one tackle for loss, and five solo tackles in his sophomore season in 2017, Spence saw himself getting completely benched last season by Smith.

Things never worked out in Spence’s favor while in Tampa as he failed to develop appropriately after he was drafted with a ton of hype in 2016. He now gets a second chance with Washington moving forward for the rest of the 2019 season as he hopes to revive his career.
