Can Jameis Winston maintain his high level of play?

This first question is one that is on the mind of many Buccaneer fans. Most people are probably sick of hearing about Jameis at this point, but as of now nothing about his future is assured. Due to the fact that Jameis has not already received an extension from Bucs leadership it can be concluded that while statistically successful for parts of his rookie contract, the Bucs were and may still be concerned about the longevity of the former Heisman Trophy winner and first overall pick.

Jameis has had a rather controversial start to his career off of the field. The Buccaneers have been able to look past these murky transgressions that were mostly tied to college, but Jameis did serve a suspension at the start of last season that may pose more questions about Jameis’ future. As seen with the Antonio Brown situation, a player can have all the talent in the world but off the field problems can serve as a massive detriment.

Luckily for Jameis and the Buccaneers his on the field struggles this season have been minimal. In fact, Jameis could very well see himself on his way to his first Pro-Bowl since his rookie year. Jameis has been electric through the air with Bruce Arians’ offense being a perfect compliment to Jameis’ skillset.

The Bucs have also been able to establish a run game and a defense to take some of the pressure off of Jameis. The remaining twelve games of the season will be very indicative if Jameis gets an extension or not, but if Jameis can maintain this level of play against high level teams like the Saints for the remainder of the season he will receive and extension.
