Halapoulivaati Vaitai

This offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles set out to draft Jason Peters’ heir apparent as the Pro Bowl left tackle is close to the end of his career. Doing so, they selected Washington State tackle Andre Dillard with their first overall pick last Spring; this has made veteran tackle Halapoulivaati Vaitai potentially expendable.

If the 6-6, 320 pound Vaitai is, in fact, expendable, the Buccaneers should do their due diligence as he could potentially be acquired at just the cost of a day-three pick. With Dotson not only hurt, but at the end of his road with the pewter and red, Vaitai could provide a solid replacement for the close future if the Bucs decided to address another position early in the draft.

Even when healthy, Dotson has been iffy at best for the Bucs, and could easily be replaced in a heartbeat. The longest tenured Buccaneer has lost the fight with Father Time, and it looks like it is almost his time to hang up the cleats. Vaitai, a 2016 fifth round pick of the Eagles, is just 26 years old and could be fairly inexpensive to re-sign as he plays out the last year of the deal and gets ready to hit the open market.
