Are there any legs to these rumors?
The speculation now is that Perriman and Pinion could both be sent packing too in order for the Bucs to receive even more of these picks from the league for the 2020 NFL Draft. The Athletic’s Greg Auman wrote about the real potential of the Buccaneers prioritizing their future beyond 2019 by making these moves.
Neither Perriman nor Pinion have made a significant impact for the Buccaneers, so if they are not producing, then wouldn’t a free pick for parting ways with them seem like the right option? If the Bucs do decide to move on from two more of their free agent signings, they would need to do so in the next three weeks.

Thus far in the 2019 season, Perriman, on the brink of revitalizing his career after a strong showing in 2018 with the Cleveland Browns, has just three catches for 15 yards for the Buccaneers. The former first round pick of the Baltimore Ravens and University of Central Florida product did not travel to London and has been listed as inactive for the second straight game.
According to FOX Sports, Pinion is ranked as the 28th best punter in terms of net average in the league right now. Former Bucs’ punter Bryan Anger currently ranks first in the league in net average for the Houston Texans; the punter the Bucs cut is at the top, while his replacement is near the bottom of the league. It’s a Bucs life.
As with Bucannon, the Buccaneers could let go of these free agent busts and seek to fill their roles for an inexpensive cost. Bucannon had appeared for just eight snaps, all on special teams, so the Buccaneers turned to the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad for his replacement in Noah Dawkins; how hard would it be to find another player to play on the occasional special teams rep?
The Bucs could do the same with both Perriman and Pinion in an attempt to earn more draft assets back from the league at the end of the season. What would it look like to replace each of these players if the Bucs do decide to move on from them in the coming weeks?
