Buccaneers: Comparing Jameis Winston’s numbers first 6 games throughout career
By Cory Hays
Winston in 2017 and 2018
In 2017, the Buccaneers began the season with a 2-4 record again, a trend that has become pretty obvious. Winston threw for 1,643 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions to start that season, his best start yet as a Buccaneer. Jameis Winston injured his shoulder in a game against the Arizona Cardinals and only threw the ball 10 times in that game for 61 yards so the 1,643 yards is impressive.

In 2018, the Buccaneers did not begin the season with Jameis Winston as their quarterback, as he was suspended the first three games for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. During that time, quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick led the Buccaneers to a 2-1 record.
Winston returned to the team in Week four when he replaced Fitzpatrick in the second half of the Buccaneers vs Chicago Bears game. In the first six games that Winston played in 2018, he threw for 1,692 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions while having a 2-4 record.
Jameis Winston was benched for QB Ryan Fitzpatrick in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals after he threw four interceptions. Needless to say, last year was a season to forget for the former number one overall pick.
