7. Ronald Darby, Philadelphia Eagles

Ronald Darby is seventh on this list for a couple of reasons despite earning a nearly $6 million extension from the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year deal last Spring. First and foremost, Darby’s play has drastically declined this year for the Eagles, as he is grading out at just an abysmal 44.1 according to Pro Football Focus (subscription required).

Secondly, if the Bucs keep quarterback Jameis Winston around in Tampa past 2019 (which they are rumored to be resetting their sights at the quarterback position), then they should keep Darby far from him and far away from the pewter and red. Wherever Darby and Winston are found together, there has been trouble nearby; in Winston’s infamous Uber ride that landed him a lawsuit and an NFL suspension, Darby was also with him in the car.

The Florida State classmates are close friends, but there is never positive news to be found when they are in the same proximity. While will be just 26 years old, has shown flashes of brilliance, and will not cost too much to obtain, do not expect the Bucs to compromise the maturity of Winston, should he still be in the pewter and red beyond 2019.

There are far better and wiser options than Darby for the Bucs to pursue at the cornerback position in free agency this upcoming offseason.
