Jeffrey Okudah. CB. Scouting Report. Pick 8. Round 1. player. 812. Pick Analysis

Currently slated with the eighth pick in the draft on The Draft Network’s mock draft machine, the Buccaneers land Ohio State standout Jeffrey Okudah in order to address their need in the secondary. With the release of Vernon Hargreaves III, the Buccaneers are left with Carlton Davis, Sean Murphy-Bunting, Jamel Dean, and M.J. Stewart as their only real options at the cornerback position.

Okudah, well on his way to becoming an All-American for the Buckeyes in 2019, is slowly working to solidify himself as the top cornerback in this year’s draft class, competing with LSU’s Kristian Fulton and Alabama’s Trevon Diggs. As the Buckeyes are one of the top ranked teams and defenses in the country, Okudah’s play against the pass has much to do with their success.

Through eight games in Columbus, Ohio this season, Okudah has recorded three interceptions, four passes defended and a forced fumble for the Silver Bullets. Okudah has also shown the ability to lower his head and tackle as well, tallying 17 solo tackles and tackle behind the line of scrimmage.

While rookie Jamel Dean played well in yesterday’s game against the Cardinals, the Buccaneers’ secondary is not magically fixed. Okudah will serve to patch up the secondary rather efficiently after the release of Vernon Hargreaves.
