With free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick set for a public workout, the Buccaneers are set to have someone from the organization present.

During Wednesday’s press conference, head coach Bruce Arians said he believes that someone from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be present when Colin Kaepernick takes the field for his tryout in Atlanta on Saturday. Now, don’t get too excited or what not about this statement, just because they are attending doesn’t necessarily mean that the Bucs are searching to bring him in to compete as a starter.

I would be quite surprised if he even ends up playing another regular season snap to be quite honest. Teams are most likely attending to see where Colin is physically and mentally. Is he still in good shape? does he still have a big arm? Can he still run around the field and kiss his arm in the end-zone? You know.

There will be interviews with teams as well to see where he is mentally. Teams want to know where he’s been training, what his goals are, and I’m sure a huge part of the interview process is to get an update on what his beliefs are with the whole Kneeling situation, but I’ll save that for some other time.

Hypothetically, if the buccaneers were to bring him in, I would like to see them use him like the Ravens used Lamar Jackson last season before he took over as a starter. Or maybe even the same way the saints use Taysom Hill.

In the offseason the Buccaneers brought in undrafted free agent, Nick Fitzgerald in hopes of turning him into that hybrid type of player. We never got the chance to see that happen beings he was released from our practice squad and replaced with former Cardinals Quarterback, Chad Kanoff.

So that could be a possibility; who knows if the Bucs bring him in, but if they do, don’t hold your breathe on him taking over as the starter, because that isn’t going to happen. As many mistakes and roller coaster games Jameis has had, Bruce will keep him as the starter until the pigs flap their wings.

Colin Kaepernick is getting his shot at making an NFL roster, and the Buccaneers will be present. However, one does not always equal two as multiple teams will be present, but it certainly does raise an eyebrow or two.
