Mock Draft Monday: Buccaneers move on from Jameis Winston
By Cory Kinnan
With the sixth overall pick in the draft, the Buccaneers choose to replace Jameis Winston by selecting Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert to be the new face of their franchise. Standing at 6-6 and listed at 233 pounds, Herbert has shown the ability to stand in the pocket, make big time throws, and step up when his team needs him to.

Herbert is this writer’s top rated quarterback in the 2020 draft class, so for the Buccaneers to get him with the sixth overall pick after Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa already off the board is a steal. With a cannon for an arm, great mechanics, and an overall likeable player, Herbert can easily be the face of a franchise moving forward.
In Tampa’s pursuit of a replacement, the current Oregon quarterback would be an ideal one to pursue. Having his best season yet, Herbert is just 500 yards off the pace he set a year ago with nearly 2,700 yards passing, 38 touchdowns, and just six interceptions; he is also completing about 70 percent of his passes.
After five years with Jameis Winston, the Buccaneers are finally ready to tear it down and start over in this mock draft with the selection of the promising Justin Herbert.
