Buccaneers should give $30 million to Teddy Bridgewater instead of Jameis Winston
By Cory Kinnan
Looking at Jameis in 2019
On the year, Winston has thrown a league-high 18 interceptions; he has also thrown for over 3,000 yards and 19 touchdown passes while completing below 60 percent of his attempts. While Winston is on pace for 4,900 yards passing and 30 touchdowns on the season, he is also on pace to throw an astoundingly high number of interceptions with just below 29.

According to the analytics group Football Outsiders, Winston ranks as the 28th overall quarterback in DVOA and 30th overall quarterback in DYAR. These numbers evaluate a player’s success rate per play against the league average, and a player’s overall value respectively. This are by far the lowest Winston has ever ranked in these particular categories in his career. Only Sam Darnold, Kyle Allen, and Daniel Jones rank lower than Winston in DYAR.
Ranking him by QBR, also calculated by Football Outsiders, Winston ranks as the 21st overall quarterback in the league out of a qualifying 33 gunslingers. According to Pro Football Focus (subscription required), Winston is grading out at a replaceable 66.5 overall. For a quarterback to be having his worst year in the last year of his rookie contract is telling to say the least.
