Buccaneers go for five straight: Texans another must win statement
By JD Stenger
Where it all started…
Jameis Winston had just finished the worst game of his career as he threw five interceptions and fumbled twice, losing one. He had just handed the Carolina defense six turnovers in one game, and the defensive backfield had not yet come to life with Vernon Hargreaves‘ dismissal. All looked hopeless; it was simply the lowest point of the season. That London game was all that was wrong with the Bucs wrapped up in one dominated, and embarrassing nutshell of a game.

It was slow at first after that second Panthers game of 2019, but that is when it started, and each week, it seems the team has gotten better, stronger, more confident. Jameis is playing lights out, Breshad Perriman, “the Stonehanded Streak,” has even stepped up as his teammates have gone down. Playing much better than I thought he had in him. Justin Watson, and possibly Spencer Schnell, who was added to the active roster must also step up and fill the void left by the injuries of two of the best receivers in the game today, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
I don’t think anyone, but maybe some of the players and coaches, could have believed this turnaround was on the horizon. That they would pull it together and have any shot at winning the last six games, much less five after the Carolina loss.
