Buccaneers: The role of Ronald Jones for week 17 and beyond
By JD Stenger
Jameis Winston doesn’t have to do it all
Everyone has their own feelings as to what Ronald Jones’ ceiling is, what his potential is, and what he is capable of doing in this offense. From what I have seen so far, the sky is the limit for this kid out of USC; Jones can take it to the house from anywhere on the field. He has that extra special gear that not all backs possess. Peyton Barber is a good running back, but not great, as he doesn’t have that gear that Jones has.

So very much of what Ronald Jones is capable of next season rely’s on two very important outside factors. First, will Jason Licht and Bruce Arians change the continued practice of ignoring the offensive line in the draft. (let me clarify, first round offensive left and right tackle attention).
There hasn’t been an offensive lineman taken in the first round by Tampa since 2006 when they selected guard, Davin Joseph; No left tackles since 2001 and Kenyatta Walker of the Gators; plenty of defensive players, and skill position players taken there instead. Arguably the most important position on any team is left tackle (for a right handed QB), and it’s been almost 20 years since the Buccaneers spent a first round pick on the position. It’s time the negligent drafting stops.
