The on-field workouts begin today at the 2020 NFL Combine and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have some interesting options working out.

Depending on how the 2020 NFL Draft pans out today’s combine results could prove influential in the end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

There is a substantial chance that the Bucs draft a player that is performing today and it will likely be a big deal regardless of who the pick is on.

The Buccaneers are likely evaluating the quarterbacks and tight ends the most but could show an interest in the wide receivers too as they could need to find another player to provide depth if the team moves on from Breshad Perriman.

More from The Pewter Plank

1. Jared Pinkney, TE, Vanderbilt

Jared Pinkney is the first player on this list as he would be a great addition to the Buccaneers and could fall in around the third to fourth round which would make him cost appropriate for the team. Pinkney would give the Buccaneers the ability to trade away Cameron Brate to conserve cap space while not sacrificing skill.

2. Adam Trautman, TE, Dayton

Still no quarterbacks. If the Bucs want to win now like Bruce Arians says then the idea of drafting a rookie seems counterintuitive. Adam Trautman is one of the best tight ends in this class and his only downside is that he will likely require a higher draft pick than Moss.

3. Jordan Love, QB, Utah State

Here is where the quarterbacks start to show up. There have been many rumors amongst the Bucs fans this offseason that Bruce Arians is done with Jameis Winston. Most of this is circumstantial but it isn’t unbelievable due to Winston’s highs and lows.

Jordan Love is likely the best quarterback that the Buccaneers could realistically draft if they do decide to move on and Love will use today to try to quell some of his doubters due to his Winston-esque problem with interceptions.

4. Jake Fromm, QB, Georgia

Jake Fromm is an interesting prospect for the Buccaneers but one that doesn’t seem as likely as Love. Jordan Love clearly has a higher ceiling even though he hasn’t showcased that as much on the field but Fromm has experienced more consistent success.

If the Buccaneers did decide to move on from Winston their best bet would be to draft the coachable player with the higher ceiling but that is a risk they have to decide on. Fromm would likely fall to the second round which makes this player more realistic.

5. Jalen Hurts, QB, Oklahoma

Jalen Hurts would be an interesting next step in the saga that is the NFL’s transition towards utilizing dual-threat quarterbacks. Hurts has the size and the speed to be a runner but the biggest question marks are about his arm.

Hurts would be a fun option and the Buccaneers could potentially draft him in the third round which would allow the team the opportunity to address other positions of need (both lines) in the first two rounds while also adding a potential replacement for Winston.
