The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are reportedly ‘not done’ when it comes to making moves this spring. Could one be making a trade for an elite running back?
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a huge splash Tuesday evening when it was reported that six-time Super Bowl winning QB Tom Brady would be signing a deal to bring him to the Bay area.
Though the Buccaneers have been the feature story of the national media for the Brady signing, it seems that Tampa Bay isn’t done making moves for the spring.
One of the latest rumors surrounding the Bucs is that they’re interested in making a trade to bring in elite RB Todd Gurley to pair him with Brady.
NFL Analyst Cecil Lammey reported that the Buccaneers were showing intrigue in scoring Gurley and potentially even packaging WR Brandin Cooks– who used to play with Brady in New England- in a deal.
While nothing has been confirmed, it is interesting to see the Bucs’ name consistently tied to some of these elite players. It’s clear that Tampa Bay is seeking to build this team to be the best possible and to compete over the course of the next couple of seasons for more than just a playoff bid.
The Buccaneers would likely not be able to bring back Ndamukong Suh if they took on Gurley’s full contract, but there’s reason to believe they could offload a contract or two and that the Rams might be willing to take on a little bit of Gurley’s deal.
All of that remains to be seen at this point, but it certainly would be an interesting situation to see Tom Brady paired with Todd Gurley in the backfield alongside one of the most talented wide receiver cores in the league.
