How many interceptions will Tom Brady throw in his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? Here’s what Vegas has to say about it.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers set the NFL world on fire a little less than a month ago when it was reported that future Hall of Famer Tom Brady would be joining the roster.
The Buccaneers seemed to be one of the least likely candidates to win Brady’s services, but that’s exactly what happened in the end.
One of the most intriguing questions surrounding Brady with the Buccaneers has to do with the number of interceptions that he’ll throw during the 2020 season.
Former Bucs QB Jameis Winston threw 30 interceptions during 2019.
The newest Vegas Prop Bet has set the number of Tom Brady interceptions for the 2020 season at 10.5, according to Sports Illustrated. The juice is set at -110 on both sides.
While it does seem a little crazy at first look to think that Brady’s number would only be set at 10 when we saw Winston throw 30 last season, it should be noted that Brady has consistently refrained from turning the ball over in his career.
In 2019, interestingly enough, Brady attempted 613 passes while Winston had 626 attempts.
Learning Bruce Arians’ system and taking more shots down the field will obviously lead to Brady putting the ball in jeopardy perhaps a little more often than what we’ve seen in the past from him, but there’s obvious optimism that he will get the ball out quick, focus on his underneath options and make smart decisions with the football.
I will say one thing: If the Vegas number is close, Buccaneers fans need to be celebrating.
As long as Brady gets through the entire season healthy and if he only throws somewhere in the range of 10-15 interceptions, there’s no reason to believe that Tampa Bay won’t be postseason bound with an opportunity to compete for a championship for the first time in more than a decade.
