Unlike wide receivers, which a team can seemingly get for pennies on the dollar a la Odell Beckham Jr. last year and DeAndre Hopkins recently, most other positions cost more in a trade.

The Buccaneers would likely have to give two first-round picks to bring Adams to Tampa Bay right now. Two firsts is a king’s ransom, but it would be worth the cost.
The Buccaneers need to address offensive tackle in the draft, but there is a chance than Mekhi Becton, Tristan Wirfs, Jedrick Wills, and Andrew Thomas will all be off the board in the top-10. If these four are out of reach for the Bucs, their best bet is to look for the second round and use the first-round pick for something better.
A team can spend ten first-round picks and never find a player like Jamal Adams. His talent is unique, and the Buccaneers wouldn’t be mortgaging their future with this trade.
If the team performs up to present expectations, the Bucs won’t even have a top-20 pick in 2021. The addition of Adams and a second-round offensive tackle to protect Tom Brady could have the Bucs in legitimate contention for the Super Bowl.
Giving up the picks is not easy to do and is a massive gamble, but if the “win-now” mentality is prevailing, this is the move to make.
