The Tampa Bay Buccaneers faithful are excited for a promising season, but former New York Giants QB Eli Manning has some doubts.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are looking to break a streak of 12-straight seasons of missing the playoffs.
The Buccaneers signed QB Tom Brady in the offseason and brought back several key pieces, including Shaquil Barrett, Jason Pierre-Paul and Ndamukong Suh.
After an NFL Draft that saw them bring on OT Tristan Wirfs, S Antoine Winfield Jr. and WR Tyler Johnson, there is excitement in the air surrounding the organization.
Despite the potential, former New York Giants QB Eli Manning has his doubts about Brady’s pairing in Tampa Bay, at least early on.
"“I think it’s gonna be tough for him, just the fact he can’t be doing everything he wants to be doing with the team and getting ready,’’ Manning told SiriusXM NFL Radio. “Obviously they have some playmakers at receiver there, when you got talented receivers it makes it a little bit easier to get on the same page with ’em.”"
Manning isn’t necessarily saying that the Buccaneers can’t have success, but he is saying that Brady wants to be preparing and building chemistry. Unfortunately, the quarterback isn’t going to have as much time as he would like to.
Because of that, Manning is predicting that Tampa Bay may have a rough start to the season.
It will be interesting to see what the offense, in particular, looks like when the season does begin. The Bucs have some of the top play-makers in the league and it will be intriguing to see how they are utilized with Tom Brady at the helm.
Perhaps the most important aspect of the 2020 season will be seeing how much practice time teams are granted and what wide receivers are able to gain chemistry and the trust of Brady from the get-go.
