Three Buccaneers who must step up following Mins’ injury

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will open up their 2020 season on the road against their divisional rival, the New Orleans Saints, this Sunday afternoon but they may be without one of their top play-makers.

Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians told the media Wednesday afternoon that the WR Mike Evans had suffered a soft tissue injury and missed practice. Arians said that Evans is currently listed as day-to-day and could very well be a game time decision in terms of his availability this weekend.

Even if Evans is able to play, there’s no question that the Buccaneers will need several other receiving options to step up and take some of the load off of him. And that will especially be true if he is unable to compete.

Here’s a look at three Buccaneers who have no choice but to step up following Evans’ injury.

Chris Godwin

We’re going to start with the most obvious name: WR Chris Godwin.

Evans and Godwin are considered the most lethal WR duo in the league and now much more pressure will be put on Godwin to create space and take over that No. 1 receiving role due to the injury.

Godwin is more than capable of being a big-time No. 1 receiving option- as we saw that during the final portion of 2019- and there’s no doubt that he’ll answer the call when it comes time for him to step into the role.
