The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive line has made massive strides over their previous seasons, and 2020 has seen a new high for the unit.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are practically unrecognizable compared to their 2019 selves. The Buccaneer defense is strangling opposing offenses, the turnovers are minimized, and the offensive line has emerged as one of the league’s top groups.

The offensive line was better in 2019 than it was given credit for, but a substantial jump has been made. According to pff.com, the Buccaneers now have the fifth-best offensive line in the NFL (this could change tomorrow when all week four data is available).

Fifth in the league is massive for this group. The Bucs have three criminally underrated interior linemen on their roster, and the tackles have performed at an exceptionally high level as well.

Ali Marpet and Ryan Jensen are well on their way to several individual honors at the end of the season, with Marpet being a front runner to crack the All-Pro list finally.

Alex Cappa has made numerous strides forward on the right side of the ball and has grown into a phenomenal guard at the NFL level.

The outside of the ball had a slower start to the year, but Donovan Smith was able to turn his season around completely. After a shaky first game, Smith had been a significant part of the Buccaneer line posting two games without a sack.

Some fans find it easy to blame Smith often, but he has effectively silenced the haters with his elevated level of play.

Tristan Wirfs rounds out this list, and the rookie has not disappointed. The first-year man from Iowa has still not given up a sack through the first quarter of the season, and he has certainly lived up to the hype surrounding the 2020 NFL Draft.

With the offensive line performing at this level, the sky is the limit for this Buccaneer team. Tom Brady has plenty of time in the pocket to pick opposing defenses apart, and the further success of this unit will have massive implications on late-season success for this team.
