Does anyone want to face the GOAT?

Calling out the greatest quarterback who has ever played is a bold move as a rookie, but that confidence is one of the driving factors behind the WFT spending a premium pick on Young. Chase Young is exactly who scouts expected him to be in the NFL, and he should spell trouble for the Buccaneer offensive line.

More from The Pewter Plank

Donovan Smith will have to play one of the best games of his career if he wants to give Brady the greatest chance of winning. Brady’s quick release has helped tremendously in mitigating sacks this season, but that isn’t enough against a player like Chase Young.

Bruce Arians, Tom Brady, and Byron Leftwich will have to spend a substantial amount of their time this week preparing for Young’s speed and power, but this process pales in comparison to what the Washington defense will need to do in preparation for Brady.

Tom Brady is still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL by a healthy margin, and he has the best targets in the NFL. Even when Mike Evans went down with an injury last weekend, Antonio Brown and Chris Godwin dominated the Atlanta secondary without missing a beat.

Chase Young and Washington are about to learn a harsh lesson, but this is a part of the growing process. It is important to remember that this clip does not serve as whiteboard material for Brady. Odds are, he hasn’t thought about it since he saw it. While something like this might rile up a younger player, Brady doesn’t need it.

After winning six Super Bowls and all of the other successes of his career, Brady knows how to get fired up for every game at a level that dwarfs the small flame of a Twitter callout, and that is what should scare the WFT.

To Tom Brady, Chase Young is just the next member of a long line of incredibly talented defensive players that came for the king and missed, but as we already said, GOATS are gonna GOAT.
