Tom Brady vs. the current greats

Unfortunately for the Buccaneers, Brady’s career will come to an end soon. While he isn’t showing many signs of slowing down now, Brady only has a few seasons left before he retires. Let’s try to keep that out of our minds for now.

More from The Pewter Plank

Brady has already left a legacy that outshines every retired quarterback in NFL history, but there are a few active players that can still compete with Brady.

The two players best-equipped to surpass Brady on an all-time scale are Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes. If Rodgers wants to earn this honor above Brady, he’ll need to win the Super Bowl every year for the next five seasons. It seems unlikely, but Rodgers is one of the most talented quarterbacks ever. At least, he was until Mahomes entered the league.

Patrick Mahomes is currently the best quarterback in the NFL and is quickly accounting for a mountain of accolades, but he has a while to go before he is on the same level as Tom Brady.

Brady has also built himself some ground against his current competition with his success in two separate conferences. The Super Bowl is still a long way off, but even making it to this point at his current age proves Brady’s greatness.

While we don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves, Brady winning the Super Bowl this season would put him in a league of his own forever, even if the current competitors keep up their current pace.

The Bucs are lucky to have what they do right now, and Tom Brady continues to prove that every time he suits up in pewter and red.
