Carlton Davis can earn massive extension in NFC Championship

Carlton Davis vs. his best competition
In an offseason that will see Chris Godwin and various other free agents reaching a massive payday in Tampa, Davis could be one of the highest earners on the roster very soon. Godwin is one of the best receivers in the NFL, but the market for corners is much higher.

The Buccaneers need to keep Davis happy and in Tampa Bay for as long as possible, and a new contract a year early would go a long way to keeping a foundational player on the roster before he breaks the bank.
Davis has shut down players like Thomas and Hopkins during the past two seasons, but beating Davante Adams right before contract negotiations begin would be impossible for the front office to ignore.
Adams is clearly the best receiver in the league right now, and he already found success against the Buccaneers earlier in the season. The Packers are going to focus on getting Adams rolling early in the game to put the Bucs away, but Davis will have plenty of chances to slow down one of the best duos in the league.
While it may be too much to expect for Davis to have another monster performance against another top receiver, this is the exact type of chance that Davis loves to have. Either way, the Buccaneers should find a way to lock down a top corner for the future, but Davis has an excellent chance to make himself even more money with a great performance when it matters most.
