Buccaneers prediction #3

Mike Evans puts on an MVP performance.

The last wide receiver to win Super Bowl MVP is Julian Edelman. Mike Evans is already off to a great start with numerous physical advantages over his predecessor.

More from The Pewter Plank

Mike Evans, who could go down as the best Buccaneer player ever when it’s all said and done, is about to play in his first Super Bowl. These appearances are never a given, and after the tumultuous seasons Evans has experienced in Tampa before this point, we can rest assured that he will take every advantage of this opportunity.

Evans has the size and speed to dominate every corner on the Chiefs’ roster. Evans has drawn tough matchups in the past two weeks with two of the best corners in the NFL, but the Chiefs don’t have anyone on par with Marshon Lattimore and Jaire Alexander to stick on Evans.

In the first matchup with the Chiefs, Evans only had three receptions on nine targets. This was one of Brady’s worst games of the season, and the Bucs still didn’t have their current offensive chemistry by that point, so betting on a repeat is unwise.

While the run will be the focus for the Buccaneers on offense, this game will come down to throwing the football. Tampa Bay has to rely on their best players, and Tom Brady and Mike Evans lead the pack on the offensive side of the ball.

If the Buccaneers want to win their second Super Bowl in franchise history, they will need to up Mike Evans’ targets, and if they do this, Evans will make a compelling case for MVP.
