RB James White is a must-add free agent for the Buccaneers
By Rob Leeds
The Buccaneers desperately need James White
Running backs and the Buccaneer passing game were not the best combination in 2020. Ronald Jones, Leonard Fournette, and LeSean McCoy failed to shine in the passing game, with dropped passes being a prominent feature.

The Buccaneer backs dropped passes by the handful when it hurt the most, and this was a stark change for Brady during his first year in a new system.
Even if Tampa Bay manages to find a consistent running back in the draft, James White is the best free-agent option to guarantee an improvement in this stage of the game. White and Brady have plenty of history together, and the price tag would be more than manageable for the Bucs.
If the Bucs were smart, they would sign White for as long as Brady remains to serve as the lead third-down back. Brady has shown that he can make almost anyone work in the system, but a bare minimum is needed from a hands standpoint.
Now that he is available and the Patriots did not use the franchise tag on him (not that anyone thought this would happen), White needs to be at the top of the Bucs’ free-agent boards as an affordable option that can raise the level of the offense in Tampa.
Both parties should be more than interested to make this deal happen, and the Buccaneers need to make this deal happen before they miss out on a perfect option for their starting quarterback.
