Ndamukong Suh is returning to the Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers have pulled off the impossible. The best free agency period in team history is happening before our eyes, and Ndamukong Suh is just the next name on the verge of  re-signing with the Super Bowl champs, according to Ian Rapoport on Twitter.

Suh was a question mark heading into this period based on his price, but the Bucs were able to free up enough money to keep the defense together. Now, the rest of the league is officially on notice.

It is time to start talking about the Buccaneers as having the best defense in the NFL. Suh alone doesn’t bring this distinction, but the fact that the entire defense is returning is something to behold.

Typically, teams start to lose players after winning a Super Bowl. Look at the Buccaneers after their first win on the biggest stage. Players get a ring, and then the focus is on earning a respectable contract. The Bucs have been able to provide both.

Suh shows how successful this period has been for Tampa Bay with his ring and this contract. As one of the players with a decent market that would be easiest to replace in the draft or free agency, Suh is still returning. A ten-million-dollar deal to remain with the champs is hard to turn away, and the fact that the Bucs were able to afford this amount is nothing short of spectacular.

With Ndamukong Suh back, all of the key free agents for the Bucs are returning for 2021. The Bucs didn’t lose a single key player. This should be impossible, but with this front office, we should know that the impossible is accomplished more often than not.

The spotlight will now turn to luxury players across the league. Does Tampa Bay want to keep Antonio Brown and Leonard Fournette? What about James White? The opportunities are almost endless now that the Bucs have Suh locked down.

Suh is likely on one of the last years of his career, but it is good to see him back in Tampa during such a crucial time. The Buccaneers need all hands on deck to repeat in the Super Bowl, and the odds just got better with Ndamukong Suh staying put.
