The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are embroiled in an ugly contract dispute with quarterback Baker Mayfield, so much so that there is a very good chance that the former No. 1 pick who revitalized his career in central Florida ends up possibly leaving his team at the altar in 2027 and beyond.
The NFL Draft might be one of the more prudent ways to add someone who could be a long-term replacement, and the Buccaneers may have lucked out due to the depth and quality of what many believe to be one of the best signal-caller classes in recent memory.
Any one of these five quarterbacks coming to town, even if Mayfield wins enough games to keep Tampa Bay away from the top passers in this class, could be a way for Tampa to pivot away from the Baker era.

5. Drew Mestemaker, Oklahoma State
Mestemaker may head back to school to become QB1 in 2028, but if he is even half as effective in Stillwater as he was in his high-flying North Texas offense, his downfield accuracy and pocket poise should give Tampa Bay the confidence needed to throw him into an NFL offense.
4. Darian Mensah, Miami
Mensah does so many things right at the quarterback position, but he has a below-average arm as far as strength is concerned and is going to be very skinny for pro standards. His timing and accuracy stand out, however, and those two traits are very difficult to teach.
3. Jayden Maiava, USC
Maiava is the next strong-armed pocket passer who can thrive in Lincoln Riley's wild offense. Even though he has not shown great escapability, Maiava can grip it and rip it as well as any player in the country when kept clean, and the Bucs will certainly take notice during the scouting process.
2. LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina
Sellers is going to be the "bet on traits" guy of the 2027 class, as he has the ability to throw the ball 60 yards and run a 4.5 40, yet doesn't have very good accuracy in the pocket. Sellers will need some development time, but the ceiling is that of an All-Pro player.
1. Julian Sayin, Ohio State
Sayin is going to be a tough evaluation. He is going to use his dead-eye short accuracy and pocket presence to put up gaudy numbers and compete for a Heisman Trophy, but the Bucs will need to decide if those numbers are simply the byproduct of playing on what promises to be a loaded Buckeyes team.
