The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are trying their best to stay above water in the NFC South, though it will become much harder with so many injuries at wide receiver. Both future Hall of Famer Mike Evans and standout playmaker Chris Godwin are dealing with some health problems.
While Evans will likely be sidelined for a handful of games, Godwin's season is likely over. With free agency coming up soon, Godwin may miss out on some serious money if teams are scared by his injury. All around, this is a terrible situation for the player and his franchise as a whole.
Despite that, Tampa still has some big games to play, even after a devastating loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. The Bucs were unable to pull off a comeback win, ultimately losing 31-26, but it wasn't for a lack of offensive firepower from Baker Mayfield.
Godwin might not have been part of the action, but it was clear that he was on everyone's mind.
Before the game, Mayfield was sporting not just a No. 14 Godwin jersey, but a specific creamsicle jersey ahead of Tampa donning their famous throwback uniforms.

Godwin caught 50 passes for 576 yards and five touchdowns this season.Extrapolated out to a full 17 games, Godwin was on pace to catch 121 balls for just under 1,400 yards and 12 touchdowns. That kind of production is not going to be replaced very easily.
Rookie Jalen McMillan and promising youngster Trey Palmer will get the first cracks at replacing that production. If either of them starts to falter, look for a more run-heavy approach to take center stage. Even with the loss on Sunday, the receivers did their best to make up for the loss of Godwin, with Rakim Jarrett being the one who surprisingly stepped up the most.
Tampa Bay is not going to be kicked off course just because of a Godwin injury, but Mayfield will need to show he can win in crisis with this team. He made some pretty bad decisions on Sunday that led to critical turnovers, but for the most part, the offense did enough to gain some confidence moving forward without Godwin in the picture.
Regardless, Tampa will be remembering Godwin as they try to overcome his loss and keep this offense performing at an efficient clip.
