Buccaneers rival might hilariously trade for NFL Draft bust to replace Derek Carr

While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are sitting pretty atop the NFC South with their quarterback quandary well and truly solved thanks to Baker Mayfield, the rival New Orleans Saints are running around like a chicken with their head cut off after a shoulder injury threatened Derek Carr's availability for 2025. Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener aren't exactly Drew Brees.

The only free agent option out there worth a damn is Aaron Rodgers, who likely wouldn't be interested in joining a cap-strapped team as a stopgap. The NFL Draft could provide some reprieve, be it Shedeur Sanders at No. 9 or a trade up to the latter half of the first for Jaxson Dart.

If the Bucs' floundering foes from Louisiana end up deciding the Draft is not the best place for them to get a Carr replacement, that could lead them to a very thin trade market. One possible trade target would help keep the Saints far behind Tampa Bay in the NFC South gutter.

Bleacher Report proposed a trade in which the Saints would send their fourth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for former No. 34 overall pick Will Levis. Levis is likely to lose his starting role if the Titans select Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick.

Bucs fans should laugh at Saints if they trade for Will Levis

Levis may just need a fresh start, and going to a team coached by a smart offensive mind in Kellen Moore could make full use of a very strong arm. However, the former Kentucky alum has more than his fair share of problems as a passer.

Not only can Levis struggle to throw from the pocket when pressured, but his overly cavalier style of play led to multiple ill-timed and often hilarious turnovers. That propensity for goofing around on the field might dissuade Moore from demanding draft capital gets burned on acquiring him.

Levis is not going to be enough to unseat the Bucs atop the division. As long as Tampa improved their defense and gets them to perform a step above last year (in which they were unwatchable slop at times), their confidence in Mayfield could help them win any potential shootouts they would get into with a Levis-led Saints team.

While it is a shame that Carr's quality career is being hampered by injuries on the back end, Buccaneers fans have to be laughing at the suggestion that Levis would move the needle in this division.
