The Tampa Bay Buccaneers landed one of the biggest steals of the entire NFL Draft when they landed Rueben Bain Jr. at No. 15 overall.
Bain has become an instant fan-favorite, and he seems poised for a special rookie season.
His recent comments just made one game in particular a must-watch.
Buccaneers rookie Rueben Bain Jr. wants to sack Ravens QB Lamar Jackson
Bain was asked by Overtime which quarterback he wants to sack the most in the NFL.
“Lamar Jackson. He’s the most elusive, and he’s a Florida boy," said Bain.
Bain appreciates the challenge of bringing down Jackson for a sack, given his evasiveness. And of course, as a fellow Florida native, Bain has a lot of respect for Jackson.
This isn’t a shot at Jackson, it’s a sign of admiration, and a rookie setting his sights high.
Lucky for Bain, he’ll get a chance to get his prized sack in his rookie campaign. The Bucs travel to Baltimore to face the Ravens in Week 14, where Bain will try to get into the backfield and accomplish his lofty goal.
By the time Week 14 rolls around, Bain will already have 12 games under his belt. He’ll no longer be making his first adjustments to the pros, and could very well have established himself as a high-impact player by that point in the season.
The Bucs’ matchup against the Ravens was already intriguing, but Bain just made it a must-watch. He’ll have sacking Jackson atop his priority list, and you can bet that the Ravens offensive line and Jackson himself will prepare accordingly.
Time will tell if Bain’s trophy sack comes to fruition , and if he is able to bring down Jackson as a rookie and successfully call his shot, we might have to call him The Great Bainbino!
