Over the offseason, it was announced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be bringing back their white throwback uniforms to help celebrate the franchise's 50th anniversary. That week is finally upon us, and the vibes are about as good as we could have hoped.

The Bucs are set to celebrate their home opener with a chance to start the season 3-0. It's not a position most experts thought the team would be in given the rash of injuries to star players, but back-to-back gutsy performances have resulted in Tampa Bay looking like a team truly ready to compete.

Winning on Sunday will be bigger than simply wanting to get the home schedule off on the right foot. The Bucs are missing both Chris Godwin and Tristan Wirfs, but will also be without Luke Goedeke, Cody Mauch, and Calijah Kancey -- the latter two having suffered season-ending injuries.

It's a tremendous blow, but one the Bucs have to find a way to navigate around. Starting the season 3-0 without two of the most important offensive players would be a gift. The Bucs have benefited from their fair share of luck over the first few weeks, but showing out against a bad Jets team and asserting themselves as a dominant force -- despite the injuries -- would be a fantastic way to punch back at those doubting they can hold up.

What channel is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game on tonight? (September 21st)

This is, of course, a classic trap game that even a healthy Bucs team usually falls into. Last year, Tampa Bay also started off 2-0 but laid a dud against Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos -- giving Sean Payton an unfortunately triumphant return to Raymond James Stadium.

Now the Bucs are in a similar position, facing a Jets team without its starting quarterback but with a ton to prove. Aaron Glenn needs a signature win and getting one over a really good team like Tampa Bay would be a massive feather in his cap as a first-year head coach.

Let's not pretend like the Bucs aren't the better team, but let's not foolishly lull ourselves into a false sense of security and not celebrate another curse being broken -- the creamsicle curse -- until it actually is.
