In just about every single way, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a very bad time in Week 4 against the Eagles. Rather than come into the game like a 3-0 team trying to do something it had only done three times in franchise history, the Bucs looked defeated from the jump.
A blocked punt return for a touchdown on the first drive of the game is a good way to kill the vibes.
Philly pretty much cruised from there, as the Bucs were outclassed and overmatched the entire afternoon. It made for brutal viewing and a generally miserable experience, but it wasn't all bad, even if it felt that way.
For just a glimmer of a moment, the Bucs had something to cheer about. To close out the first half, McLaughlin nailed a 65-yard field goal, which bested his former career-best kick by seven yards.
Everything else about Sunday sucked, but this ruled pretty hard:

McLaughlin got off to a rough start to the season, uncharacteristically missing kicks in spots the Bucs usually rely on him in. None of it ended up costing the team, but it didn't make the 3-0 start any easier and it started a rather troubling trend on special teams.
There are still massive red flags in that area, but McLaughlin seems to have stabilized a bit. He made a kick earlier in the game before rocketing that career-long kick right before halftime. It put some fears to rest about whether or not he had the yips, and that 65-yarder is a heck of a confidence booster, but it's largely overshadowed by the rest of what's going wrong.
Still, McLaughlin getting back on track is a good thing and a rare positive in a season full of total disaster for Tampa Bay's special teams.
