The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are counting on a relentless pass rush to elevate the defense throughout the 2026 season.
Yaya Diaby leads the way, and the team signed Al-Quadin Muhammad in free agency before drafting Rueben Bain Jr. with their first-round pick to add to the mix.
In addition to their splash offseason additions, the Buccaneers are also getting back another key pass rusher who often goes overlooked. David Walker, the team’s fourth-round pick in 2025, is back with a vengeance after missing his rookie season with a torn ACL. Before suffering the injury, Walker was one of last year’s biggest training camp standouts, and he’s picking up right where he left off.

Before being drafted by the Buccaneers, Walker had a prolific college career between Southern Arkansas and Central Arkansas.
In his three seasons at Central Arkansas, he recorded a whopping 31 sacks and 63 tackles for loss. There were questions about the level of competition he faced playing for an FCS program, but Walker was a man against boys, and looked to be the best player on the field. He looked capable of making the jump to the NFL.
Early in training camp, Walker has shown he's fully healed from last year’s devastating injury, and he’s stealing the show.

Pewter Report has documented Walker’s breakout, noting that the second-year pass rusher has started training camp with a sack in all five practices. He’s becoming impossible to ignore, and he’s quickly earning a key role in the pass rush rotation this season.
Last year, the Buccaneers’ top four pass rushers were Yaya Diaby, Haason Reddick, Chris Braswell, and Anthony Nelson.
This year, three of the top four will be new faces as the group is made up of Yaya Diaby, Rueben Bain, David Walker, and Al-Quadin Muhammad.
The overhaul of that room can’t be overstated, and the revamped pass rush could be the biggest factor in Tampa Bay returning to playoff contention.
Last season, behind Diaby, the next three players in the rotation combined for just 6.5 sacks as a group. Muhammad nearly doubled their cumulative total by himself with an 11-sack season for the Lions in 2025, and he’ll be the third or fourth edge rusher in Tampa Bay’s rotation this year.
The ceiling for the pass rush has risen astronomically, and if this group can live up to the hype that they’re generating on paper, the Buccaneers could have a dangerous defense in 2026.
