Saturday was a big day for Deion Sanders and his family. Not only did his youngest son, Shedeur Sanders, get drafted by the Cleveland Browns, he sent another son off to the NFL as well. Shilo Sanders, a safety, signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent shortly after the draft ended.

Shilo became a social media star during the three days of the draft, live-streaming the family’s experience on Twitch as they waited on Shedeur‘s name to be called. The livestreams produced several great moments, including an emotional one when Deion Sanders and the family talked about Shilo joining the Buccaneers.

Coach Prime, who was simply just dad in this moment, took a picture with both of his sons as they rocked the hats of their respective teams. With Shedeur and Shilo’s younger sister and mother also present, the elder Sanders expressed that it’s been a heck of a journey. Coaching his sons from little league to college, Deion Sanders let them know he was proud of them, while praising them for being resilient, having faith, and not flinching, despite being tested.

He went on to tell Shilo that Tampa is a wonderful spot and that Todd Bowles is a brilliant defensive coach and a good man. So he knows that his son that plays in the secondary like he did is going to a good landing spot. As an undrafted free agent, Shilo Sanders will be fighting an uphill battle, but the family is confident they can all show what they can do when given the opportunity.

As far as what Shilo Sanders can do, he’s a hard-hitting safety that plays with a level of physicality of a past era. His violent hitting style is also paired with a responsible nature, as he’s always in the right spot in run fits and in coverage. If he can display those skills on the defensive side of the ball at the NFL level, and thrive on special teams, he has a good chance to make the team.
