With the explosion of fantasy football, more eyeballs are on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' skill position players than ever before, and the one player people are watching second-most to franchise quarterback Baker Mayfield is sophomore wide receiver Emeka Egbuka.
Both he and Jalen McMillan are two young wide receivers fans around the league are tabbing for greatness this season, especially if new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson can get this offense back together after the Josh Grizzard disaster in 2025. And judging by how well Baker played through the first games of the 2025 season, this offense has serious potential, especially with Egbuka set to soak up most of the targets left behind by legendary wideout Mike Evans, who moved on to the San Francisco 49ers in the spring.
Egbuka is a former first round pick from Wide Receiver U, Ohio State, with all the tools to be one of the best all around wideouts in the league in terms of getting YAC, moving the chains, and making splash plays down the field. And before Grizzard pumped the brakes on the entire Buccaneers offense, Egbuka was making plenty of huge plays, nearly ending his rookie season with 1,000 yards.

There is no reason to doubt that Emeka Egbuka will already fulfill his destiny by becoming a top-20 wide receiver in the entire NFL this season. In a recent interview with former Arizona Cardinals GM Steve Keim, a buddy of Jason Licht's, on Inside Football, Egbuka spoke about his goals for the next season and mentioned that he and Baker Mayfield go through a lot of film together and have a shared "perfectionist" mentality.
Everyone can read that through Egbuka like a book. The guy has that same Tom Brady mindset of wanting to be the best, studying every little detail, and working harder than the next guy. Egbuka can sometimes get in his own head, which was a problem last year, but any young player who cares is going to fall into that trap to start with.
Now that he has the experience of not only playing a full season in the NFL but struggling through a team in collapse, Egbuka is ready to take that perfectionist mindset to the next level. His will to succeed and attention to detail are huge traits, beyond the athleticism, that will ensure he has a great season and career in the NFL.
