It's hard to believe that it has been six seasons since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won Super Bowl LV, beating the Chiefs 31-9. A lot can change in that period of time.
Players in the NFL come and go, but even some who rarely touched the field can make an impact that is remembered. For Cam Gill, his moment of fame came in that Super Bowl finale when he registered a half -sack.
Gill was signed by the Buccaneers in 2020 as an undrafted free agent. In his rookie season, he took only 22 snaps on defense and 67% on special teams. That changed in 2021.

Gill took 100 snaps as the Buccaneers outside linebacker in 2021, but his time in Tampa was winding down. After missing the 2022 season injured, he played one more season in 2023 before being released. His playing time dwindled to just 6% of the defensive snaps.
Gill played with the Panthers in 2024, managing 30% of the defensive snaps, but his time in Carolina was one season and just 10 games.
The Panthers began camp this week and immediately lost linebacker Nick Scourton to a knee injury. The phone call was to Gill.
Last year, Gill was with the UFL's Louisville Kings, where he finished with 11 sacks and won the league's Defensive Player of the Year award.
Gill managed to live out a dream that few undrafted players get. Now, he is getting another chance. Despite the fact that his career hasn't been statistically impressive at the NFL level, he has managed to win a championship, bounce out of the league, win an award in the UFL, and get another shot at his dream.
Hopefully the feel-good story doesn't come at the Bucs' expense as Gill suits up for the rival Panthers upon his NFL comeback.
