The Tampa Bay Buccaneers struck gold last offseason when they selected wide receiver Emeka Egbuka with the 19th overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.
The pick was polarizing at the time, as Tampa Bay had a stacked wide receiver room and needed help on defense. But the Bucs stuck to their philosophy of drafting the best player available rather than drafting for need, and it paid dividends.
The pick is getting recognized as a steal around the league. Earlier this week, The Athletic released a 2025 NFL Re-Draft, and this time around, Egbuka was off the board long before Jason Licht could get his hands on him.
Now, Fox Sports released a list ranking the best players from the 2025 NFL Draft following their rookie seasons, and Egbuka’s name was at the top of the list.

Buccaneers wide receiver Emeka Egbuka named best player from 2025 NFL Draft by Fox Sports
Egbuka wasted no time making his presence felt last season, scoring a game-winning touchdown in his first NFL game.
It set the tone for a strong rookie season in which he caught 63 passes for 938 yards and six touchdowns.
Now, with Mike Evans opting to leave Tampa Bay to finish his career with the San Francisco 49ers, Egbuka will step into an even bigger role for the offense. The once confusing draft pick continues to age like fine wine.
Seeing Egbuka get his flowers, even being ranked as the best player from his draft class is a welcome change for Bucs fans that have become accustomed to the team’s best players being ignored by the national media.
Players like Mike Evans and Lavonte David didn’t get the recognition they deserved until later in their careers as a result of playing for a small market Bucs team that didn’t win many games and rarely found themselves in the national spotlight.
Despite a disappointing season last year, the Bucs remain one of the league’s most well-run organizations over the last few years, and their success has allowed players like Egbuka to get the recognition they deserve.
