Aaron Rodgers is a future Hall of Famer and one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been his kryptonite over the years, especially when playing in Tampa.

The Buccaneers are home underdogs in Week 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but if history is any indication Todd Bowles’ defense could lead the way to an upset. With Rodgers struggling against Tampa Bay over the years, the Bucs are hoping to keep that trend going and spoil his final trip to Raymond James Stadium.

Buccaneers’ Raymond James Stadium has been a house of horrors for  Aaron Rodgers

Rodgers is 3-4 against the Buccaneers, including the postseason, over the course of his career. He’s thrown 11 interceptions in those seven meetings, and his 79.4 passer rating against the Bucs is his second-lowest against any opponent, per Fox Sports’ Greg Auman.

The results are especially jarring when you compare his numbers against the Buccaneers to his career average. Rodgers has completed 65% of his passes throughout his career while averaging 251 yards and two touchdowns per game.

Against the Buccaneers he’s completed 62% of his passes while averaging two touchdowns and almost two interceptions per game. His career touchdown-to-interception ratio is an incredible 4.2-to-1, but against Tampa Bay, he’s thrown 13 touchdowns to 11 interceptions.

Those struggles have been especially pronounced when Rodgers plays in Tampa. He’s just 2-3 at Raymond James Stadium, where he’s thrown a whopping nine interceptions in his five games, including three multi-interception games.

Rodgers has only had six three-interception games in his career, and two of those have come while visiting Tampa Bay.

He’s taken a lot of hits and thrown plenty of interceptions at Raymond James Stadium. The Buccaneers have simply had his number.

A big part of Tampa Bay’s success against Rodgers has been their ability to rattle him by generating relentless pressure and forcing him into uncharacteristic mistakes.

Todd Bowles needs to throw the kitchen sink at Rodgers with exotic blitzes and disguise coverages to keep him guessing and force him into more of the same blunders he can’t seem to avoid against the Buccaneers.

Rodgers has announced that he’ll be retiring after this season, meaning this is his final showdown with the Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium. He’ll be looking to exorcise the demons that have plagued him against Tampa Bay, and the Bucs will be eager to spoil his retirement tour by giving him another day to forget on their home turf.
