Jason Licht and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hit the 2026 NFL Draft out of the park.
They started with a bang, landing Rueben Bain Jr. after he shockingly fell to them at No. 15 overall, and never looked back.
The Bucs got the biggest steal in the entire first round, and later on, they got another steal that might prove to be the biggest of the whole draft.
Dane Brugler says Buccaneers drafting Keionte Scott was biggest steal of 2026 NFL Draft
Dane Brugler is one of the faces of NFL Draft coverage. Each year, he creates a massive collection of his draft analysis, known as “The Beast” where he includes a full scouting report for over 300 prospects.
Brugler knows his stuff when it comes to the draft, and he loves what the Buccaneers did this year.
In an appearance on Up & Adams, host Kay Adams asked Brugler who was his steal of the draft, outside of the first round.

“Keionte Scott, getting him on Day 3? I mean, anybody that watched Miami’s defense. The pick-six against Ohio State, or watch the Louisville tape, he had 13 tackles for loss. He’s a corner in a linebacker body,” said Brugler.
“I have no doubt that I think coach Bowles will find a way to utilize that play speed especially downhill. It won’t surprise me when he ends up getting a couple sacks because they’re gonna use him as a blitzer. He’s going to show up in a lot of different ways for Tampa Bay.”
That’s big praise for Jason Licht’s fourth-round draft pick, and the team is ecstatic to have landed such a tremendous value and a perfect scheme fit on Day 3.
Adding him to the secondary room as a likely nickel will give Bowles a ton of flexibility and could give Jacob Parrish, the team’s best corner last year at nickel, the chance to transition to outside cornerback.
The Bucs defense is going to have a completely different look and feel next year, and they can thank the front office for making it their focus all offseason to completely overhaul the defensive unit. It’s a move that will pay dividends for the team next season.
